It’s easy to think you’re living positively, while there is an iceberg of cynicism underneath that outer shell hidden from humanity.
Cynicism.
It’s what keeps us from loving. Loving one another, loving the planet. It’s word vomit, spewed onto whomever is listening, and each and every sentence or gesture conveyed to another human being makes an impact.
“Well, we’re all pretty fucked, aren’t we.” You’ve heard it before. The words might have crossed your mind after watching a documentary, or after someone unfollows you on Instagram (well...hopefully not that). This type of critical thinking and self expression is chalked full of cynicism, and when it’s repeated, it becomes true. Eventually those thoughts become your reality, and the reality of whom might be listening. This cynical beast is fed by simply agreeing to a negative comment about another. Or by not liking someone for what they believe. And damn them for even liking a different sports team.
Not a loving life, is it? Humanity has taught itself that this is how it is, and that’s just life. But it’s not true.
There IS another way. A way of being that leaves the previous person happier having spoken to you. When was the last time someone looked at you, spoke with you, even for just a moment, and was left filled with more joy? It’s a challenge for humanity; leave a stranger, boss, friend, loved one, or “enemy” feeling love having spoken to you. It’s such a simple message, yet, a message that drifts away with the faintest gust of wind, like a feather being swept up from it’s gravity. Seemingly in the hands of a greater force.
We can feel love for humanity. Not cynicism.
We are one.
We are all breathing the same air. All 7.3 billion of us. The same air that’s always been here. Each of us are sharing the air once held by Sir Isaac Newton, Marie Curie, and Adolf Hitler.
We are all human, all mortal. And you are that greater force. We are that greater force. And together we can make a difference.
